But even health experts are not fully aware of the sources of these ailments. Problems caused by the wrong sitting position will result in a loss of motivation, will slow down the supply of blood and create ailments of the internal organs. The backache is the most common and  cost-intensive of these ailments, but moreover, from headaches to swollen feet a number of physical imbalances are the result of wrong sitting positions.
More recent research does not only deal with the sitting position as such but e.g. also the pressure exerted on the bottom and the muscles of the thighs  – we all know this feeling after spending long hours sitting at the office, in the car or airplane. This could lead to the following health problems:

  • Swollen legs, varicose veins, cellulitis, cold feet
  • Weakening of the muscular system, flattening of the bottom
  • Restlessness, crossing your legs resulting in a further impairment of the supply of blood ...

This means: the pelvis, feet, and the elbow divide the weight between them, the back takes an upright position, the pressure on the genitals will be reduced. A saddle seat that follows these guidelines will provide the best conditions to achieve these aims. An adequately upholstered elbow rest is essential, too. If the elbows carry a part of your body weight your shoulders will be able to relax, and the strain on the back will be minimized.
Getting used to sitting on a saddle seat, as is the case with sitting on horseback, might take some days  – but once the user has switched to this new type of seat he will never want to go without this new sitting sensation.
